Hello everyone!! How’s your week?Mine was quite a crazy one due to work and other errands.. When it’s time to rest on weekends, i fell sick.. -__-
Therefore while nursing my sorethroat and runny nose, time can be put to better use by indulging in my favorite past-time (which is blogging)..Last month, i celebrated Derrick’s Birthday
over at Sentosa.. As mentioned, i have chosen Mövenpick Heritage Hotel Sentosa
for our staycation.. Since he has never been to USS since its opening, i have decided on the USS package which consists of the following:
Universal Studios Singapore Package
Deluxe room accommodation (king or twin) for 2 people
Buffet breakfast for 2 people
2 one-day passes for Universal Studios Singapore which can be used on weekdays as well as weekends
2 one-day passes for the Maritime Experiential Museum™ (including admission to the Typhoon Theatre)
Complimentary Monorail Sentosa Island Pass for two for the duration of your stay
20% discount on food and beverages during your stay, inclusive of in-room dining
Pricing details are:
Daily rate @ SGD 388.00
Taxes @ SGD 68.68
Total price incl. taxes @ SGD 456.68 (Picture credit of Sentosa’s website)
To access to the hotel, you can take the Monorail from Vivocity.. You do not have to pay the entrance-fee if you produce your hotel confirmation slip at the gantry.. Take the Monorail, alight at Imbiah Station and you can see the hotel opposite… The location is superb as it is just 5 mins walk from the monorail station and RWS is just located one stop away (waterfront station)..
FYI.. Part of the hotel (The Heritage wing is still undergoing renovation so it will not be a pretty slight while walking to the reception area… If you are intending to stay in the room most of the time, you have to put into consideration the noise factor.. For us, we were not bothered by it as we were out till 9pm.
Initially, we went to the hotel at 9.30am with the intention of collecting the USS tickets but to our surprise, the counter staff provided us with early check in since it was Derrick’s birthday and check in was done fast..
Our Deluxe Room which can accommodate a maximum of two – Room 615..
Along the Corridor, you could see the on-going renovation of the Heritage wing….. I have to highlight again that you have to be mentally prepared for highly possible noise pollution in the Morning / Afternoon..
I find the 30 sqm Deluxe Room small for a five-star hotel room but despite of the size, the room is nicely furnished.. To provide a serene, cosy and tranquil environment, warm neutral colours and modern natural wood furnishing are used.. As the walkway is rather narrow, it might pose space constraint issue if you have many pieces of luggage in the room…
At the corner of the room, there’s a small work station.. Since the hotel caters more for people on holiday / relaxation, the small work station won’t be of a concern.. The room is also fully equipped with WLAN access (chargeable) and a big LCD flat-screen TV with bluetooth connectivity.
Ironing board, Safe (located in one of the drawer), two sets of bathrobes and slippers will be provided for the guests as well..
The deluxe room comes either with Twin size bed or king size bed.. Bed sheets are clean and smooth (probably very good quality ones with high thread counts).. Pillows are big and fluffy while mattress is firm which gave me a good night sleep…
The view overlooking our room: we can see the sea from far and the coach terminal… Because there are no obstruction in front of the hotel, the room is bright with natural sunlight coming in..
The Coffee / tea and Mini Bar area is loveeeeeeeee!!!! There’s a Nespresso Machine in every room completed with 4 different capsules.. I’m delighted to see this machine as we planned to get a coffee machine for our future home and Nespresso is one of the model shortlisted..
Anybody knows what model is this? Alfred is using Nespresso Pixie (which has a metal handle which you need to press it down in order to get the capsule in).. For this model, you just have to push the black lid to get the capsule in…
Beside the coffee, 4 different sachets of TWG tea are provided as well… A really nice personal touch for all the coffee and tea drinkers.. 🙂
Next up, the spacious and modern bathroom is entirely made up of granite tiles and flooring so you need not worry about slippery floor.. The bathroom is nicely divided into three different areas: Toilet / Shower area, Bath-tub area and basin area.. I love the design as you get to share the bathroom (one of you can soak in the bathtub while one of you can shower!)..
The entire bathroom is covered by a translucent door so it might pose some privacy issue if you are standing at the basin / bath-tub area.. The shower and toilet area each has a door respectively which will enhance on the privacy aspects.
Movenpick is also very generous with its toiletries.. There are two sets of Miller Harries hair and body care products provided in each room..
In addition, other necessity items like shaver, toothbrush sets, cotton buds and mouthwash are provided in a cute dim sum steamer.
The hotel was also kind enough to provide a yummy complementary chocolate cake for Derrick big enough to share among 4 paxs.
Breakfast was served in one of their ball-room and to be frank we were really disappointed with the breakfast.. I guessed the hotel occupancy rate was on the high side so we had to wait for a table.. The sitting area was also small to begin with and perhaps the hotel should look into increasing the number of tables / chairs..
The food selection was limited as well with the main focus on Asian food… Nothing much to rave about so no photos were taken during breakfast.. On a side note, the swimming pool is really pretty and it looks like a giant fish tank! As there are only eight sun-beds available, do hit the pool early.. 🙂
If you ask me if i’ll return to this hotel again, i guess i’ll say no as there’s better hotels available on the island itself… Beside the renovation woes and the disappointing breakfast, the sound insulation of the room is bad as well… Early in the morning, i could hear people opening their doors and walking outside.. As i’m a light sleeper, my sleep was disturbed which left me frustrated… Sigh!
Although the hotel provided us with late checkout at 1 pm, we encountered one minor hiccup as the clock in the hotel room was faulty.. We did not know it was already 1pm as the clock indicated 12pm.. The reception gave us 2 calls asking us what time we would be checking out (They should have just tell us directly that it was already 1pm).. We only came to realise the time during the 1pm news broadcast and we were about 10 mins late in checking out.. Upon reaching the counter, one of the receptionist (a guy) seems unhappy while we told him about the faulty clock that caused us to check out late..
Nevertheless, we had a relaxing time in Sentosa and we are in the midst of planning for another Staycation in Sentosa..
Thanks for reading and have a great Sat everyone!
