At home, you can pamper skin with special care using DHC products in three steps and the first step will be to indulge in DIY facial massage using DHC’s star product – Olive Virgin Oil.. Benefits of this massage will enhances blood circulation so beauty essence and nutrients can better penetrate your skin leading to clear and revitalized skin.. In addition with continuous facial massage, one will have sharper face lines and better absorption of skincare items used afterwards.
If you feel that your skin looks tired, Ms Kimiko Ikeda also taught us how to free skin from dullness using Warm towel.. By using a warm towel and applying it on your skin, it enhances blood circulation and refreshes skin to free it from dullness.. While doing so, the improved blood circulation will also relax tension on face and relieve stressed skin.
For eye concerns, you can make use of cotton pack soaked DHC Kakonjuka Lotion to address it! This fuss free beauty regimen provides concentrated care and provides sufficient moisture around eyes which prevents wrinkles, dark circles and dullness..
Ms Kimiko Ikeda also told us more on DHC’s latest skincare series – the Kakonjuka Range. In this range, it is formulated using six specially selected Asian botanical ingredients which will boost skin’s youthfulness.
This anti-ageing skincare series comprising a lotion, essence and cream which are packed with moisture to soothe, hydrate and delay signs of aging. The products will help strengthen the skin’s moisturizing effect, aiding in skin rejuvenation for smoother, tighter skin overtime.
After the mini beauty workshop conducted by Ms Ikeda, the special cooking session on how to create our own age-defying beauty meal commenced! We were told to find ourselves a partner and cooking will be done in pairs! Here’s me and my ‘partner in crime’ – Jacelyn!
When the rest of the beauty bloggers chef unite, we are set to cook up a storm and prepare healthy meals using DHC collagen products!
First dish! Each pairs will be preparing their own Baked Buttery Mentaiko Ramen that contains DHC collagen powder! I’m such a pasta lover and i will even love it more when it contains collagen that will boost my skin’s radiance..
Baked Buttery Mentaiko Ramen – Serves 4-6 small portions
1 packet of dry ramen (270g)
0.5 cups of mentaiko roe
4 teaspoons of onion powder
2 teaspoons of chopped garlic
100g of enoli mushrooms (cut into 1cm)
100g of shiitake mushrooms (chopped finely)
50g of salted butter
50g of salted butter
1/3 cup of heavy cream
1/2 cup of chicken broth
1/3 cup of mirin
2 x tablespoons of Japanese Mayonnaise
Black pitted olives
Nori Seaweed (garnish)
Bontio flakes (garnish)
Sakt and pepper (to taste)
4-6 pcs of baking paper (15 x 15cm)
Directions for preparation
1) Cook ramen in boiling water till slightly soft (app 1.5-2 mins)
2) Soak ramen in ice-cold water and set aside
3) Melt butter in frying pan then set aside to let it cook slightly
4) Mix melted butter with garlic, onion powder and a pinch of salt until it dissolves
5) Add in mayonnasise, cream and mentaiko and mix well.
6) Place a sheet of baking paper and put in handful of cold soba in the middle
7) Toss with 1 tablespoon of mentaiko butter prepared earlier.
8) Top with handful of assorted mushrooms
9) Drizzle with some mentaiko butter
When the pasta sauce is done, throw in the ramen and mix it well.. After that, top up with handful of assorted mushrooms and drizzle some mentaiko butter and a tablespoon of chicken broth + pepper to taste. After which, position the pasta in the middle of the baking paper, wrap it and seal it before placing it in preheated oven of 160 deg Celsius.
After leaving it to bake in the oven for 12 mins, the pasta is ready to be served! Just a reminder to add collagen powder only AFTER taking it out from the oven as the high heat will destroy its properties… Before serving, just sprinkle some collagen powder (according to preference) on top of the pasta then follow by your garnish and some lemon juice and your pasta is ready!
Nom Nom Nom Nom! I can only detect the taste of the pasta and various ingredients… Despite adding collagen powder to it, there isn’t any fishy taste! Thumbs up!
Part 2 of the DHC Age-Defying Beauty cooking session involved Sushi and DHC collagen powder! Before the hands-on session, the team from Cookyn gave us a tutorial session and some tips to create the perfect looking sushi!
Assorted Sushi Maki Rolls – Serves 25 small portions
3 avocados, seed removed and sliced
2 Japanese cucumbers, julienned
100g of Tobikko / Ebikko
150g of Tamago
10 crab sticks
5 sheets of Nori Seaweed, cut into half
The rice and vinegar had already been prepared for us beforehand but you can refer to the detailed guide below to understand more on the preparation steps.
Here are some tips on how to create that perfect looking sushi:
Use a rolling bamboo / wooden mat for rolling sushi and place a sheet of Nori Seaweed. Make sure that the seaweed is dry before spreading the sushi rice on top.
Press the rice down firmly while spreading it evenly.. After which, choose the desired fillings and lay them in a line… Sprinkle some DHC powder on top so that you can ‘feed’ your skin with nutrients while you consume the sushi! Killing two birds with one stone.. 🙂
Roll the bamboo mat along with all the ingredients and tug the sushi in tightly… This will prevent the sushi from falling apart after you cut it.
Remove the bamboo mat and slice the sushi swiftly with a long sharp knife.. To prevent the sushi from sticking onto the knife, you can wet the knife with water before slicing.
Presenting herewith our final product, not too bad i hope! Credits to Jacelyn as she was the one wrapping the sushi while i stood beside her taking pictures..
JJ can cook!! Not bad~
For people who have sweet tooth and prefer to indulge in dessert that’s last sinful, Cookyn has taught us how to prepare one easy to prepare dessert incorporated with DHC Collagen Beauty 7000.. Something to satisfy your sweet tooth and at the same time boost your beauty fix! 🙂
Yogurt Anmitsu With Fresh Fruit – Serves One!
3 Teaspoons of Japanese red bean paste
2 Teaspoons of Konnyaku jelly cubes
2 Teaspoons of mochi balls
4 Grapes, 4 blueberries
3 Tablespoons of low-fat yogurt
1 bottle of DHC Collagen Beauty 7000
I have no idea where to purchase these mochi balls but they are really QQ and delicious.. Maybe i should give Japanese supermarkets a try! :p
To have a nicer presentation, you might wish to put in the items layer by layer.. You can start off with putting the red bean paste in the middle. After which place the jelly cubes, mochi balls and fresh fruits around the red bean paste.. Once done, add the yogurt on top then pour the DHC Collagen Beauty 7000 in.
This dessert is really yum yum! The sour tinge from the yogurt is sweetened by the DHC Collagen drink while the grape taste from the collagen drinks goes very well with the rest of the fruits.. Personally, i don’t like the desert to ‘soak’ in collagen water so i only poured half of it in.. Drank the rest of the collagen drink (which taste good on its own) after finishing the dessert…
At the end of the cooking session, we were also treated to home-made sorbet (With alcohol content inside)!
It’s really cute looking that i can’t bear to eat it (but i ate it eventually, duh!).. Chocolates and ice-cream are my Happy Food and there’s no way for me to resist them! 🙂
Look what DHC has prepared for me to bring home! The collagen supplements will definitely boost my skin’s radiance before my wedding which is happening in 1 month plus time… Besides the oral supplements, the other skincare products will work hand in hand to promote beauty that radiates from within.
For a comprehensive health and beauty solution, you can give these highly recommended products a try:
Do you know that collagen will decreases while we age? Collagen plays an essential role in supporting skin’s moisture and elasticity; therefore, it is ideal to intake collagen constantly so as to keep collagen level healthy which maintains skin’s firmness and supple level.
You might have heard about Collagen supplements being redundant because it cannot be absorbed by our body.. Well, it is somehow true as collagen has a large molecular mass that makes it rather difficult for the body to absorb. However with the all-new DHC collagen oral supplements, collagen peptides have been formulated to allow for stronger absorption by cutting the long polypeptide chains of regular collagen into smaller structures with lower molecular weight, making it easier for the body to absorb.
1. DHC 32166 – Collagen
As part of your beauty regime, it is recommended to consume 6 tabs of DHC 32166 collagen which contains 2050mg of fish-oriented collagen peptide. With its high ability to be absorbed by the body, the oral supplement (with other beauty supporting vitamins, Vit B1 and B2) will help boost collagen level from within..
My thoughts: It is a challenge for me to consume so many tabs (6 daily at one go whereby 1 pack will last 1 month) when i have to take other supplements like Folic Acid, Royal Jelly, Vit C and Raspberry leaf.. However for beauty’s sake, i will just take it obediently and it is a good thing that these collagen tabs are easily to swallow and it doesn’t leave behind any weird after-taste.. Because it is a supplement, it is highly recommended to drink more water to prevent heatiness..
2. DHC Collagen Powder (New), Price: $58.50
If you prefer a more convenient way of taking collagen, you can opt for DHC collagen in power form which can be added to food or drinks for easy consumption.. Because this high quality health food is formulated in such a way that fishy smell of collagen is suppressed, the original flavour of food and drinks will be retained.. The DHC collagen powder uses only highly purified and excellent quality small molecule fish collagen peptides (specially extracted from fish scales) for more efficient absorption. Together with 50mg of Vitamin C which increases collagen synthesis, skin will become more beautiful, younger, smoother and tighter-looking skin when you consume it daily.
My thoughts: The powder is packaged in a slide zipper bag with measuring spoon so it makes it easy for me to keep the packet fresh without having the need to store it in air tight container.. Each pack also comes with a measuring spoon which enables me to scoop the recommended daily dosage easily (6g daily, 5000mg).. Once i’m done with the Collagen tabs, i’ll incorporate the powder into my coffee every morning! Have tried the powder during the cooking session over at Cooklyn and i’m glad that the powder is tasteless so there’s no weird taste that will mask the original taste of the food / drink.
