Hello everyone. As you know, my battle against acne has been a long, depressing and tedious process. To curb the condition, i had subjected my skin to plenty of aesthetic treatments and medications that resulted in bad sensitive skin. Currently, i’m still battling with skin sensitivity which turns red, patchy and heats up very easily~ Especially when i’m feeling very stressed up, my sensitive skin will turn very weak (poor resilience) which brings about other skin issues like increased sebum secretion and breakouts!~
I have been going for regular facial which put acne breakouts in control~ However, sensitive oily skin is not something that is easy to treat so in between facial, i have to maintain it with products~ Recently, Mettler1929 has sent me some of their products for review which targets sensitive oily skin. I’m new to this brand but do you know that Mettler1929 has been around for more than 85 years and specializes in skincare, haircare and bodycare! To customize for my sensitive oily skin, Mettler has sent me a combination of products from their Purifying and Sensitive Skin Line. Will be sharing on how the toner, serum and moisturizer fare after putting them to good use for the past 2 weeks. 🙂
Mainly known for its astrigent, antioxidant and antiseptic properties, hamamelis is used by aboriginals to treat their skin naturally. Mettler Purifying Line combines Hamamelis with a blend of targeted active ingredients in Mettler Purifying line for direct action on impurities and blemishes.
Sensitive Skin Line
Referred to the ‘Skin-Tree’ by Mayan healers, minosa is highly recommended for cosmetic treatments. As early as the 10th century, mimosa was applied to wounds and burns to alleviate pain and rapidly heal the skin. Skincare properties of mimosa used in Mettler Sensitive Skin Line offer protection from free radicals, stimulate cell renewals, regenerate and repair the epidermis.
In the past, i have the misconception that toner isn’t necessary but do you know that the use of toner is actually the 2nd part of the cleansing process.. Occasionally, you might not be cleansing your face properly with your facial cleanser and toner will help to remove residues. Secondly, toner is able to help the valuable ingredients of your subsequent skincare products gets absorbed and processed more effectively. In addition, toner can include antioxidants, astringents, calming anti-inflammatory or soothing ingredients hence the additional add-on will better benefit skin.
Toner is something i cannot do without for many years and it is important that my toner has to be able to fight against impurities yet stays gentle my skin. Mettler Detox Impurities Purifying Lotion is a purifying toning lotion specially formulated to eliminate impurities, comedones and all traces of makeup from the face for a fresh, bright complexion. Suitable for all skin types, particularly combination to oily skin. Sounds like what my sensitive oily skin needs as part of effective cleansing process~
Mettler Detox Impurities Purifying Lotion contains key Ingredients like Salicylic Acid, Cinnamon Bark Extract, Vitamin C, Plantago Lanceolata Leaf Extract, Vitamin E, Cinnamomum Zeylanicum Bark Extract and Hamamelis Virginiana Leaf Water..
As mentioned, the use of toner is important as it is considered as part of cleansing to remove residues like excess oil and dead skin cells left behind on skin after using a facial wash. Mettler Detox Impurities Purifying Lotion contains Hamamelis is known as Witch Hazel that has antiseptic and astringent properties that clears up acne and excess oil, tightening pores and promotes healing. It also contains another powerful natural ingredient, Plantago Leaf to fight against acne and has anti-inflammation properties to prevent any acne breakout of the skin
Mettler Detox Impurities Purifying Lotion (200ml, Retail Price $68 / Promotion Price: $48) makes my skin feels clean, soothe and refreshing after applying it. There’s a pleasant floral scent and the toner has a light watery consistency. After the toner penetrates instantly, there’s no sticky sensation and no oily residue left behind. There’s no stinging sensation during use and i can say that the toner is very gentle to skin. I also observed that it helps to calm down redness and it does not dry my skin after use add moisture to skin. Although the price of the lotion is on the higher side, it is worth every penny. 🙂
Beside effective cleansing with mild products, hydration is also very important to keep sensitive skin at bay! Hydrated skin is the first important requirement to any type of good skin. For myself and many other ladies, we spent long hours in air-conditioned environment and even engage in fad diets which strip the water content off our skin. Dehydration will cause skin resilient to deteriorate and at such, skin issues like dry, oily and sensitive skin will surface~! If you want to better hydrate your skin, you should dry lots of water and also use a serum on top of your moisturizer. Serum is a light weighted moisturizer which is made up of smaller molecules that can penetrate deep into skin. This allows your skin to be ‘fed’ with a higher concentration of active ingredients and thus it is a great tool to target dehydration / specific skin concerns.
Mettler Extreme Softness Serum (30ml, Retail Price $126 / Promotion Price: $86) contains soothing properties, enriched in mimosa extracts, saccharide isomerase and precious oils. This treatment also restores moisture and softness to your skin for intense action. Suitable for all skin types, particularly sensitive and irritated skin.
Mimosa is referred by the Mayan tribe as the ‘crown of the tree skin’, which is being cherish and praise by many for its magical effect, as early back as the tenth century. It has been used to heal burns and this precious ingredient reduce swelling of eczema or painful scars. Mimosa miracle properties with carefully formulated mimosa extracts can inhibit free radical molecules and has the ability to promote and stimulate cell renewal in the skin. Hence, promoting skin epidermis repair and regeneration. Especially for sensitive skin, there is significant empirical results upon using.
Packaging wise, the Mettler Extreme Softness Serum comes with a plastic bottle with a pump dispenser which is more hygience and allows you to control the amount of serum dispensed. The serum is pink in color (So pretty) and it has a gel texture. 1 pump is sufficient to cover my entire face and i love how fast it is absorbed into my thirsty skin (so you need not wait too long before you can apply moisturizer). As pretty as it looks, the serum has a relaxing floral scent which smells really amazing.
The extreme softness serum has the perfect texture and it does not leave skin sticky.. Instead, it leaves my skin soft and smooth. By using it twice daily, my sensitive skin is reacting well to the serum and i did not wake up to tight skin despite sleeping in an air-conditioned room. I will highly recommend this serum for its lightweight texture and as it does not clog my pores. A little goes a long way as the serum is very hydrating and it keeps tightness and skin flakes away. It is also nice to use it on sensitive skin as it is gentle and does not sting! Definitely a serum worth investing in.
It is a misconception that if you have oily sensitive skin, you can skip the use of moisturizer as it will clog pores. However, do you know that the main culprit of oily skin is actually dehydration? When skin lacks moisture, it will turn dry and cause irritation (Hence the sensitive skin). When skin is dry, it causes more oil / Sebum to be produced so as to protect the skin (Body’s natural reaction and hence the oily skin + outbreaks). The undeniable truth is that hydration is important for all skin types and the key to hydration is to choose products that suit your skin type.
Mettler 24H Gentle Nourishing Cream (50ml, Retail Price $112/ Promotion Price: $78 ) offers intense nourishing action, thanks to mimosa extracts, an avocado unsaponifiable and sugar complex. The silky smooth texture regenerates and nourishes skin, enveloping it in fragrant softness. Suitable for all skin types, particularly sensitive and irritated skin.
Mettler 24H Gentle Nourishing Cream is creamy yet light in texture and the same floral scent like the softness serum. fragrance. The texture is slightly thicker as compared to the softness serum so its hydration ability is higher. After application, it doesn’t leave a heavy / greasy after feel. It kept my skin well-moisturized and my skin did not feel tight despite sleeping in an air-conditioner room. When i washed my face the next day, my skin doesn’t feel so tight and is noticeably softer. You can see how hydrating the product is! I have tried it on the dry and flaky skin on my hand. Immediately after application, the dryness and flaky skin were gone~
After using the above products for 2 weeks, my skin is calmer, has a nice glow and it looks much healthier. Not to mention, it is much brighter and softer. There’s no adverse reaction like redness / stinging sensation after use but instead, i do observed that my skin is calmer these days when i incorporated the 3 products from Mettler into my skincare regime for the past 2 weeks… Would highly recommend these effective mid range products for anyone who suffer from oily sensitive skin like mine~
